Reading Strategies
Students are encouraged to read in French on a regular basis. The Halifax Public Libraries have good French books and EPEC's library has a good French section as well.
The following are strategies that students are encouraged to practice when reading:
Making predictions
Making inferences - taking prior knowledge and combining it with information from the text to create new information.
Visualizing
Making connections
Asking questions - who? what? where? when? why? how? (and many more)
Text features - what is in bold print, look at the headings, titles, and subtitles, read the topic sentences and more
